Decision fatigue describes the decline in decision quality after long stretches of choosing, weighing, and evaluating options. The mind does not become incapable of choosing, but it often becomes more impulsive, avoidant, or simplistic.
This is one reason routines, defaults, and good systems matter. By reducing trivial decisions, people can protect energy for the choices that actually deserve thought and care.
