How to Pass the PMP Exam

The PMP exam has 180 questions (multiple choice, drag-and-drop, matching, hotspot), 4 hours, with two 10-minute breaks.


Exam content outline (2021+):

People (42%) — team leadership, stakeholder engagement, conflict, collaboration

Process (50%) — predictive and agile PM processes, risk, scope, schedule, cost

Business Environment (8%) — organizational strategy, compliance, benefits


Study approach:

Complete 35 contact hours of PM education (required)

Read PMBOK 7th edition + Agile Practice Guide

Take 2,000+ practice questions — most important preparation

Focus on scenario-based questions (most of exam is "what should the PM do next?")


How to answer scenario questions:

PMs plan proactively, not reactively

Always communicate problems to stakeholders; never hide them

Go through proper change control, always

Empower the team; servant leadership style

Resolve conflicts collaboratively, not by force
