
Macrobiotics does not count calories. Weight normalizes naturally when eating whole foods in proper proportions.
Overweight: Usually caused by excess yin (sugar, dairy, refined flour, fruit juice, alcohol). Also excess fat and oil. The macrobiotic plate naturally reduces all of these.
Underweight: Usually caused by excess yang restriction or poor absorption. Need more variety, adequate oil, sweet vegetables, well-cooked foods.
The mechanism: Whole grains provide sustained energy without blood sugar spikes. Fiber regulates appetite. Chewing triggers satiety. No processed foods means no engineered hyperpalatability. The body simply finds its natural weight.
Expect gradual change over months, not weeks. This is not a crash diet.
