The Writing Sample — Unscored but Sent

35 minutes. One prompt. Unscored, but sent to every law school you apply to.

Format: A decision prompt. You're given two options and criteria for choosing. You must argue for ONE option.

There is no right answer. Both options are designed to be equally valid. Schools want to see clear reasoning, not the "correct" choice.

Structure:

Paragraph 1: State your choice and main reason

Paragraph 2: Argue for your choice using the criteria

Paragraph 3: Acknowledge the other option's strengths but explain why yours is better

Paragraph 4: Brief conclusion

Tips: Write clearly. Use the criteria given. Don't introduce outside information. Proofread. Law schools probably only read this if you're a borderline candidate.
