Parallel Reasoning — Match the Structure

"Which argument is most similar in its reasoning?"

Strategy:

1. Identify the structure of the original: premise type → conclusion type

2. Note if it's valid or flawed

3. Match the structure, NOT the topic

Quick shortcuts:

If the original has a conditional (If A then B), the parallel must too

If the original is flawed, the parallel must have the SAME flaw

If the conclusion is absolute, the parallel's conclusion must be too

Elimination trick: Compare conclusion types first. If the original concludes "some X are Y" and an answer concludes "all X are Y," eliminate it immediately. This alone often cuts 2-3 choices.

Time warning: These are often the longest questions. If short on time, skip and come back.
