When a browser loads a webpage, it reads the HTML, then executes any JavaScript it finds. JavaScript runs inside a JavaScript engine — Chrome uses V8, Firefox uses SpiderMonkey. The engine reads your code, compiles it just-in-time, and executes it. No installation required on the user's machine.
