The wheel looks simple, but it solved one of civilization's oldest problems: how to move heavy loads with less human and animal effort. Once combined with axles and carts, it transformed transport, agriculture, warfare, and trade. What had once required teams of laborers could now be moved with far greater speed and efficiency.
The wheel also became a building block for later machines. Pottery wheels, waterwheels, gears, and turbines all extend the same principle of rotational motion. In that sense, the wheel was not just a transport device—it was an early master key for mechanical civilization.
