Test Day — What to Know
Registration: Sign up at ets.org/gre. Test fee is $220 (may vary by country).
Testing options:
1. Test center — standard proctored environment
2. At home — ProctorU online proctoring. Same test, same scoring.
Bring to test center:
Valid government-issued photo ID
Confirmation email
Nothing else (no phones, watches, food in testing room)
At-home requirements:
Private room, closed door
Clear desk (nothing except computer)
Working webcam and microphone
Stable internet connection
Scores: Available 8-10 days after testing. Valid for 5 years. You can send to up to 4 schools for free on test day.
Retaking: You can take the GRE every 21 days, up to 5 times in a 12-month period. Most schools take your best score.
