When to use: Variables in the question AND the answer choices. Abstract problems. "In terms of" questions.
Method:
1. Pick simple numbers (2, 3, 5 — avoid 0 and 1)
2. Solve the problem with those numbers
3. Plug the same numbers into each answer choice
4. The matching answer is correct
For Quantitative Comparison:
1. Plug in a normal number (e.g., x = 3). Compare A and B.
2. Plug in zero. Compare again.
3. Plug in a negative number. Compare again.
4. Plug in a fraction between 0 and 1. Compare again.
5. If the relationship ever changes, the answer is D.
Smart numbers to always try: 0, 1, -1, 2, 1/2, 10, 100. These cover most edge cases.
