Blade (Eric Brooks) is a Dhampir — half-human, half-vampire — who uses his immunity to vampire bites to hunt and destroy the undead. Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan in 1973, Blade was Marvel's first Black superhero to carry a major solo title. His 1998 film starring Wesley Snipes was a massive hit and is widely credited with launching the modern superhero movie era — years before the MCU existed.
