Mick Taylor (born 1949) is a British guitarist from Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, who became the lead guitarist for The Rolling Stones from 1969 to 1974. He replaced Brian Jones and recorded five studio albums during his tenure with the legendary rock band.
Taylor joined The Rolling Stones in June 1969 at age 20. His bluesy, fluid playing style appeared on landmark albums including Sticky Fingers (1971) and Exile on Main St. (1972). He performed at the band's legendary Hyde Park concert in London on July 5, 1969, marking his public debut with the group.
Taylor's guitar work on Sticky Fingers demonstrated technical mastery, with his solos averaging between 20 and 40 seconds on lead tracks. After departing The Rolling Stones in December 1974, Taylor pursued a solo career and later collaborated with Jack Bruce and other musicians throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
