Tony Accardo (1906–1992) was the longest-serving boss of the Chicago Outfit, effectively running the organization from the 1940s through the 1980s. Nicknamed Big Tuna and Joe Batters, he was known for his extraordinary ability to avoid prosecution — he was only tried once and won. Al Capone himself once said Accardo had more brains before breakfast than Capone had all day.
