Sam Giancana (1908–1975) was the boss of the Chicago Outfit and one of the most powerful Mafia figures of the 1950s and 1960s. He is known for his alleged connections to both the Kennedy family and the CIA — including plots to assassinate Fidel Castro. He was shot dead in his home in 1975, the night before he was scheduled to testify before the Church Committee investigating CIA-Mafia plots.
