John Gotti (1940–2002) was the flamboyant boss of the Gambino crime family, one of the most powerful Mafia families in the United States. Known as the Teflon Don for repeatedly beating criminal charges, he became famous for his expensive suits and outspoken personality. He was finally convicted in 1992 on charges including murder and racketeering, largely due to testimony from his underboss Sammy Gravano, and died in prison.
