Jimmy Hoffa (1913–1975?) was the powerful president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters who leveraged his union's massive pension fund to benefit organized crime figures across the country. His relationship with the Mafia made him enormously powerful but ultimately led to his downfall. He disappeared in July 1975 and was declared legally dead in 1982. His fate remains one of America's most enduring mysteries, though he is widely believed to have been murdered by the mob.
