Heriberto Lazcano (1974–2012), known as El Lazca, was a former Mexican Army special forces soldier who co-founded the Zetas cartel, one of the most violent criminal organizations in the world. Under his leadership, the Zetas pioneered extreme violence as a business strategy, including mass kidnappings, human trafficking, and public executions. He was killed in a gunfight with Mexican marines in 2012.
