Albert Anastasia (1902–1957) was the feared boss of the Gambino crime family and the operational head of Murder, Inc., the enforcement arm of the National Crime Syndicate. Known as the Lord High Executioner, he was responsible for hundreds of murders. He was shot dead in the barber chair of the Park Sheraton Hotel in New York City in 1957, in one of the most brazen mob hits in history.
