Bernard Arnault is the chairman and CEO of LVMH — the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate — controlling Louis Vuitton, Moët Hennessy, Christian Dior, Bulgari, Tiffany, Sephora, and over 75 other prestigious brands. Born in Roubaix, France in 1949, Arnault acquired the bankrupt Boussac textile group in 1984, stripped its assets, and used the proceeds to gain control of LVMH in 1989 in what became known as the hostile takeover of the century in French business. His strategy — acquiring trophy brands and preserving their desirability through scarcity and craftsmanship — made LVMH worth over $400 billion and periodically made Arnault the wealthiest person in the world.
