Steve Jobs co-founded Apple in a garage in 1976 and transformed it into the most valuable company in history — launching the Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, each of which redefined its industry. Born in San Francisco in 1955 and adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, he dropped out of Reed College and co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak. Forced out of Apple in 1985, he founded NeXT and acquired Pixar, which produced the first fully computer-animated feature film. Returning to Apple in 1997, he orchestrated one of the greatest corporate turnarounds in business history. His insistence on the intersection of technology and liberal arts, and his obsession with simplicity and design, made him the defining entrepreneur of his era.
