Pernell Whitaker (1964–2019) was considered one of the greatest defensive boxers in history, winning world titles in four weight classes while making opponents look hopelessly outclassed.
Whitaker's elusive movement, shoulder rolls, and instinctive reflexes made him nearly impossible to hit cleanly. He was widely believed to have outboxed Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya in controversial draws and decisions.
