Muhammad Ali (1942–2016) is widely considered the greatest heavyweight boxer in history. Born Cassius Clay in Louisville, Kentucky, he won the Olympic gold medal in 1960 before turning professional.
Ali transcended boxing with his outspoken personality, political activism, and poetic trash talk. The Rumble in the Jungle (1974) and Thrilla in Manila (1975) are two of the greatest fights ever staged.
