Ingemar Johansson (1932–2009) of Sweden was the world heavyweight champion who scored one of boxing's greatest upsets, knocking down Floyd Patterson seven times to win the title in 1959.
Johansson's thunderous right hand — which he called Toonder and Lightning — was one of the most feared punches of his era. His back-and-forth trilogy with Floyd Patterson captured the world's attention in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
