
The Tet Offensive was a widespread coordinated North Vietnamese and Viet Cong offensive across South Vietnam, with the Battle of Hue becoming one of its fiercest urban engagements. Although Communist forces suffered heavy losses, the offensive stunned the United States and its allies.
The political consequences were enormous. Tet undermined public confidence in claims that the war was being won and changed the trajectory of American involvement in Vietnam.
