
The Second Battle of the Marne was the last major German offensive on the Western Front during World War I. Allied forces, increasingly coordinated and reinforced, absorbed the attack and then counterattacked successfully.
This battle marked the beginning of the end for Germany's position in the war. It shifted momentum decisively toward the Allies and set up the Hundred Days Offensive that followed.
