The Battle of the Plains of Abraham, commonly called the Battle of Quebec, was fought during the Seven Years' War. British forces under James Wolfe defeated the French under Montcalm outside Quebec City, despite the daring and risky nature of the British approach.
The battle had world-historical consequences because it contributed decisively to British control in Canada. It helped define the imperial map of North America and remains one of the best-known battles of the colonial era.
