The Battle of Naseby was fought during the English Civil War and resulted in a decisive Parliamentary victory over King Charles I's main field army. The New Model Army proved more disciplined and effective than Royalist forces.
Naseby mattered because it shattered Royalist hopes of military recovery and accelerated the collapse of the king's position. It was one of the great battles in the struggle over sovereignty and constitutional order in Britain.
